Liquor in Public Parks?
The City of Calgary wants to hear from you.
Online survey until January 31, 2019
The City of Calgary is conducting public research into a proposal which would allow Calgarians to consume alcohol in City parks.
Detailed information and FAQs can be found here: https://s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/hdp.au.prod.app.cgy-engage.files/6715/4766/0826/FAQ_liquor_in_parks_Jan_2019.pdf
As per the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission regulations, the use of liquor in parks would apply to signed, designated picnic sites only, and liquor must be consumed with food. Public intoxication would not be tolerated.
What do you think? What would the impacts be?
Please fill out the survey and pass it on to other residents as well. Your opinion matters!
The City is considering a pilot project depending on the results of the public engagement. The survey will ask for postal codes to help identify potential sites. If the majority of responses are against liquor in parks in one postal code, then the City would not initially designate sites in that area.
