Celebrate New Year’s Eve with Fireworks and Music !

A Message from the City of Calgary:

Greetings:

Ring in the New Year with fireworks set from atop the iconic Calgary Tower. Watch the fireworks live at Olympic Plaza or via a livestream video by visiting Calgary.ca/NYE. Both experiences will feature a synchronized soundtrack to the fireworks curated by CJSW 90.9 FM.

“2022 has been a year of renewed connections and the celebrations continue as we ring in the New Year,” says Mayor Jyoti Gondek. “Join us by watching the dazzling fireworks display on New Year’s Eve either live in person, virtually through the livestream, or by listening to CJSW 90.9 FM.”

On New Year’s Eve, the program will begin at 11:55 p.m. with a blessing from Indigenous Elder Clarence Wolfleg, followed by a countdown to midnight with Mayor Jyoti Gondek, and the spectacular eight minute fireworks display. The soundtrack curated by CJSW 90.9 FM will feature music from DJ Shub, The Corey Hotline, Sureshock & Miss Fudge, plus Arkells, Coer de Pirate, Aly, & AJ, and Caity Gyorgy.

Although there is no formal entertainment program at Olympic Plaza, the outdoor public skating rink will open at 10 a.m. and skating hours will be extended to midnight. Calgarians can also enjoy dinner out with friends and family at a local restaurant or attend one of several events hosted by local businesses and organizations.
